That night, he came to dinner. He didn’t ask for money. No keys. No inheritance. Just my blessing.
That’s right.
Not everything was healed overnight. But something had changed. Greed was gone. Another man had taken its place.
Before he left, he looked out at the ocean.
“Mom… thank you for not saving me.”
“Don’t thank me yet. Prove he was worth it.”
He smiled.
“I will.”
And this time, I believed him.

I still live by the sea, my belongings are protected, my life is stable. But now, when I make coffee in the afternoon, I don’t feel any
