Vanessa looked impeccable in a business dress. Daniel approached me, furious.

“What are you doing here? I told you not to come.”

“I came to give you a wedding present,” I said.

“A present? You have nothing left.”

I’m relieved.

“Oh, Daniel. You took money for the shopping, didn’t you. And that apartment… have you already given the keys to the buyer?”

“Yes. He paid a deposit this morning. Why?”

I smiled slightly.

“Because that apartment doesn’t belong to me. It belongs to a holding company. The power of attorney you used to sell it is useless. You sold something that doesn’t belong to you.”

His face had gone pale.
