Could your blood type determine how quickly you age? What science says.

Researchers decided some time ago to investigate whether certain blood types offer a biological advantage in the aging process. And although there are no definitive answers yet, more and more compelling evidence is emerging that deserves attention.

One of the most striking findings concerns blood type B. According to a large-scale study, people with this blood type age more slowly. Specifically, over 5,000 volunteers were examined, with the “biological age” of eleven different organs determined by measuring thousands of proteins in their blood. Surprisingly, people with blood type B showed no signs of accelerated aging in these organs—a finding observed in almost 20% of all study participants.

This discovery isn’t entirely new. A 2004 study in Tokyo found that many centenarians have blood type B, suggesting a link to exceptional longevity.  A more recent article also confirms this: people with blood type B seem to preserve their tissues better, experience less metabolic stress, and adapt more readily to the passage of time—although it should be noted that this is always accompanied by a healthy lifestyle.
