Why does the heart become more vulnerable after age 60?

As we age, the arteries gradually stiffen, the blood vessels lose their elasticity, and the heart has to work harder with every beat.

Some studies show that certain habits   can double or even triple the risk of a heart attack, stroke, or sudden cardiac death   in the following ten years.
